Japan Foundation's Vientiane Liaison Office, in collaboration with Fanglao Dance Company, presented"Sounds and Gestures 3". The show featured a fusion of the cultures of Japan and Laos and showcased traditional music, Taiko drumming and contemporary dance performed by artists from Laos, Japan, Canada, Thailand and Vietnam.

With the approach through sound consisted of acoustic and ambient records of different sources from tribal human voice chant, bird songs, to plastic bags that mimic the sound of the ocean, this piece recreated the nature through the idea of post-humanist / post-apocalypse

During her first 3 months in London, Taratawan wrote and produced 3 songs using her limited elements in her bedroom studio and sound of the surrounding area in the city.
She worked on both electronics and acoustic sound world to express her emotional aspects on life and mental illness while both world represent the connection between the feelings within and the distortion of elsewhere.

This piece represents a journey to seek the resonating existence of what was once there but no longer to be seen, to long for the bittersweet remembrance, and to be moved by the ambiguity between the current reality and dreams, which carry fragments of the past. Let us wander in the liminal space and question the reality, the life that we are living, us at this moment... and ponder, is it only a dream?

Short Description
Both audio and visual together encourage the audience’s imagination toward their[the audience’s] current space and time. The reflection of the light within the visual of this audiovisual piece is caught and accompanied by the crystalline sound in the audio. This allows both of them to appear as starry images and sound and as shiny as reflecting jewelries which is widely defined as a beautiful image or something that gives great pleasure or appealing when one looks at. Like a gleam in an eye, the sound gives the visual life while the visual itself gives the sound its body and space to coexist. The audio and visual hand-in-handedly show the audience the ambiguity in beauty and aesthetic, of what can be captured by the human eye. The piece is between what is considered to be beautiful and what is not. It is the fragility of reality and sensuality before the eyes and within the ears.
